Uche Sparks Dominant Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match offered a platform for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Control Asserted from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The formerArsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
