Mystery Rosy Ooze on Remote Tasmanian Shoreline Raises Concerns of Possible Algal Bloom

Authorities in the island state are striving to determine a magenta ooze that has surfaced on a secluded beach, with some scientists worried it could be an algae outbreak.

Broad Presence On Shore

The pink-tinged sludge materialized across a stretch of a coastal area about 37 miles south of the city. A comparable ooze has also been documented on areas of Little Roaring Beach and a separate bay.
