Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt able to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now put my grief into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A court order put a embargo on the cases to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the tragedy, public personalities expressed varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and suggested they demonstrated a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide could have intervened when the impulse to comment on the passing was made.
